Stéphane Jaffard
Stéphane Jaffard is Professor of Mathematics at Université Paris Est Créteil. He graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and did a PhD under the supervision of Yves Meyer.
His field of research includes harmonic analysis, wavelet analysis and multifractal analysis and their applications to signal and image processing.
In 2023 and 2024, he has held a Francqui Chair at the Department of Mathematics and Data Science of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Aisenstadt Chair at CRM (University of Montreal).
In 2022, he was in charge of the organization of the "Assises des Mathématiques", a major mediatic event at UNESCO which demonstrated the increasing importance of mathematics in sciences, industry and society.
In 2021, he was the laureate of the Jacques-Louis Lions Prize, a “Grand Prix Thématique” of the French Academy of Sciences.
In 2010, he was plenary speaker at CLAM IV (Latin-American Congress of Mathematics)
In 2000-2005, he was member of the Institut Universitaire de France.
He is a member of the editorial board of 5 mathematics journals and has supervised 16 PhDs.
