David Cunningham
Dr David Cunningham is currently an independent consultant covering healthcare policy and pharmaceutical market access strategy. He is a doctor, an innovator with a passion for public service reform and an award-winning NHS Commissioner (payer) with a track record of developing comprehensive strategies and translating them into results. Formally a Partner at the South East Commissioning Support Unit (CSU), London, UK who covered quality assurance, clinical governance, NHS and non-NHS contracting and was a member of his regional Prescribing Committee. He was selected to be one of the first cohort of Health Insight Fellows by the NHS Leadership Academy and spent a year at GlaxoSmithKline (2012-2013).
He has held positions within NHS management (commissioning/payer); GlaxoSmithKline; the Department of Health Strategy Unit, where he was clinical lead and co-author of the Care Closer to Home chapter of the 2006 White Paper "Our health, our care, our say: a new direction for community services"; and Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) advisory/consulting where he lead and project managed teams covering financial turnaround, quality improvement, workforce efficiency and medicines optimisation and management.
He studied Medicine at Cardiff (University of Wales College of Medicine) and holds an MSc in International Health Policy from the London School of Economics.
